Surprisingly, my host family come to this performace, also the other YSEP students. Thank you very much ^_^

full team of Indang Tokodai

This is the traditional Padang Dance. Padang is one of area in Indonesia that struck by earthquake one month ago. This dance is specially dedicated to our friends, brothers and sisters in Padang Indonesia. Outside this performance we also make a charity concert. Trying to help them as long as we can, even we are far away from Indonesia. Trust us, we love Indonesia anyway.

Homestay Program : My day with Kiky’s family

Homestay Program is one of activity for International Student of Tokyo Tech that want to know more about Japan by living in Japanese family’s house. Lucky me that I’m in Japan now, of course I didn’t missed it!!

After finishing the registration process, finally I meet my Host Family at the gathering in campus. It is very surprissed!! They give me a purezento covered beautifully and a postcard that contain her hope for this program, she and her family are very happy to make a friend with me.

And then we go to their home. She said to me “Ayo kita pergi ke rumah saya..” hehehe very nice. Evidently, She lived with the other friend that be the host family of my friends. So we get the wellcoming party together with the other friends that lived in the same area, in Tokyo. Before it does, we should make some meal to share in the party, so we cook together in the top of the mansion where the host family of Risvan lived. So I, laras, and Risvan make a onigiri, tuna karoke, and the other Japanese delicious food. Yummy..yummmy.. but we are not allowed to eat much after cook, because we will don’t have any appetite at the party then. So we eat as much as possible at the party!!! Hahaha.

My host fam house is in the first floor, so we should get the stair until fift floor where we cook. Kiky’s son named Dang Go Ri, 6 years old, lead me to the stair and when we arrive at the fift stair, he showing something outside! TOKYO TOWER!!!! Whooaaa… very glorious..

masak bersama host family

And then we get the party, and meet my Indonesian friends that have a host fam in Tokyo too. They are Risi and Awan. So we are 5 Indonesian now. We want to surprise the Japanese people there, by singing doraemon song together in Indonesian Language! Haha.. Succesfully, they know it and they just follow us singging a doraemon song but in Japanese language. What a nice party.. and I found my favorite food here: Takoyaki!!! Hwaa.. delicious.. .And then as the Japanese party, they never let the room dirty and messy after party. Yeah, we cook our meal by our self, arrange the party room by our self, and clean the room (and bring the garbage go home) by our self.

mino tidur difoto.. heheAnd then I stay at Kiky’s house. She lived very happy with two son : Dang Go Ri and Kurori, but they have a korean name Kyu and Mino. And Mino is very very very cuuutee… he is just 3 years old. Cute so much, he talk and ask—just like a baby that start to talk so much (in Japanese), and of course I don’t know what is that mean.. but they just laugh and laugh.. very funny kids! And Kiky’s husband can speak english well, Kiky an her husband are quite well in English. We talk so much, I share about tari Indang, and we search on youtube, and they very impressed! They like it so much and they said that they will come to our performance in tke Koudaisai Festival, one of annual culture festival in Tokyo Tech. Anyway, it is very impressive to get homestay program with them.

The Nice Japanese Habits

Yeah..!! it is very great that I’m in Japan now. This is auntum.
Tokyo is very coooooooold (colder than Bandung), even when I’m say it people will answer “the winter will be the coldest!!”. Oh my God.. I just can’t imagine how cold there will be. I think I will eat a lot here to warm my body. Haha.
Anyway, as I’m 2 weeks lived here, I have seen there are some habits of the Japanese that I think everyone should do these. Here they are :
1. They didn’t eat on the road
It is so impolite if they eat on the train or subway. Japanese people eat only in the right place : home, restaurant, garden, etc. No eating on the road, even by walking. If you get on the train, you will see that there is no one eat there, so all around is very clean, quiet, and neat.
2. If they cross the road they will obey the traffic light very well.
nyebrang jalanEven when there is no car pass the road! (as you know, the main transportation in Japan is train and subway, there is no crowded road by car) Even when they just alone, they will across only when the green light is on. And day after day, I usually follow them to run across caught the green light. Trying to go across as the green light on.
3. They read, read, and read wherever they are.
readingTokyoSubwayYou will see inside the train is like a library! Very quiet even there are so many people. They just enjoy with their book so much! It doesn’t matter young or old, they just enjoy the books, magazine, newspaper, textbook, comics. But sometimes they are busy by the cell phone or iPhone with the game in them. It doesn’t polite to make a call loudly on the train. No problem they sit or stand up in the train, one of their hand always hold a book.
4. They do very respect to everyone
They very polite to everyone, it doesn’t matter you know him/her or not, it doesn’t matter what are you wear. It is happens in several times in station and on the train, a women wondering my veil, my hijab clothes, and they just say that is so elegant and look nice. She is very kind, she try to ask me and talk a lot as she wonder my veil motif and the batik bag that I hold, but all the Japanese word that can I hear is just “nihongo…blablabla…muzukashi… ne?” and then I just say “haik..” and smile as warm as possible. They choose to silent and just smile if they can’t speak in English well. Or if they so nervous, they will just across their hand and say “sumimasen..sumimasen..” they so sorry that they don’t understand what do you mean.
5. They very care to the babies and old people so much
Even inside the train, there is a special space for mom and her baby and also for old people. So the mom with her babies and old people can go everywhere conveniently.
6. And They work very hard!
Obviously! They do as perfect as possible.

Laptop baru :)

lenovo_ideapad_s10_pinkAlhamdulillah aku telah membeli laptop baru. Terima kasih Ya Allah. Imut dan lucu. hehe. Thanks for SATO International Scholarship for the 50.000 yen purezento, and Thanks for Baharu and Isa for all your help.

***

Shibuya Shibuya Shibuya..!
Shibuya katanya adalah the greatest place for hang out in Tokyo. hehe. Profesorku -sambil bercanda-bilang “There’s so many crazy people in Shibuya, so you must be carefull”. Banyak banget orang-orang berpakaian aneh-aneh, anehnya tuh aneeeeehh bgt. ga jelash lah.

Terima kasih Ya Allah
^^
