Alhamdulillah..Yokatta ne..

Today is the peak DAY of my one month Nihongo speech preparing and practicing. Thank a million for my best friend Baharu-sensei (Thanks for every word, even my tutor thought you are Japanese! ) and Isa-san (Thanks for everything Sa, you always reply my Nihongo mail so fast), hehehe Otsukaresamadeshitaah!! And also my best roommate who Larasmeong-chan patiently hear my speech noise in the mid night, and encourage me before I go fight.

Today, they are sugoi-ing me so much, because of the amazing speech come from the new member that learn Nihongo 3 months (That’s Bahar’s Nihongo, not me.. hehe). “No, not only the speech text, but your pronuntiation is good” (hmm, maybe because I read it loudly everyday, hehe,you can do it if  practice longer), even someone thought that my major is Japanese Language, not pharmacy! Hhmm…

The speech contestant divide into two groups, the elder Scholarship’s member and the newly entered member like me. From the first group will selected 5 best contestant for the next March Speech Contest (again..), but all of the second group, I am include, should do speech again next March (since we are one year program scholarship, then Speech Contest may forced us to be seriously learn Nihongo deeply, before we go back from Japan), so there is no winner of our group. But, I’ve done my best today,  and I get a cute room shoes as a purezento.. hihi..

Here is My Speech, it is about Man Jadda Wajada. がんばればできる。

みなさま、こんにちは。

ほんじつわたくしはわたくしのすきなことばについておはなしさせていただきます。そのことばは「マン　ジャッダ　ワ　ジャダ」といいまして、アラビアごのゆうめいなことばだそうです。このことばはインドネシアにでもゆうめいです。そのいみはなにかといいますと「がんばればできる」なのです。たんごをひとつひとつぶんせきみると「マン」が「だれ」、「ジャッダ」が「がんばる」、そして「ワジャダ」は「できる、またはじつげんする」といういみをもっています。

このことばをはじめてきいたのはこうこうせいのころで、とうじ、わたくしのせいぶつがくのせんせいが「マンジャッダワジャダ」をつかって、わたくしたちをはげましてくださいました。それから、インターネットでそのことばをけんさくしてみたら、このことばのおかげでがんばれたひとのはなしや、こうつうじこうのせいであるけなくなったひとがこのことばからげんきづけられ、さいしゅっぱつしたひとのはなしなど、たくさんあります。またこの「マンジャッダワジャダ」もあるおかあさんのこころをうごかし、しょうがいしゃであるむすこがふつうにせいかつできるように、どりょくをさせてくれたことばなのです。

ですが、わたくしのほうからじつわをひとつだけかたらせていただきます。このはなしのぶたいはインドネシアのヲノギリしといういなかです。とうじ、あたらしいちゅうがっこうができて、そのちゅうがっこうのがくせいはとうぜんながらそつぎょうしけんをうけたことがないのです。ろくなしせつ、いいきょういくやじゅうぶんなおかねがなかったのでがくせいぜんいんをそつぎょうさせるみこみはほとんどありませんでした。しかしそのようなじょうきょうのなかで「マンジャッダワジャダ」をしんじて、まけられないひとたちがいました。そのがっこうのせんせいがたなのです。まいにちなんじかんもかかってけっしてまけずに６ねんせいたちをおしえていました。そのりっぱなどりょくをしたけっか、がくせいぜんいんがごうかくすることができました。

みなさま、このおはなしは私たちにどりょくのたいせつさをおしえてくれます。「マンジャッダワジャダ」はなにかをえるためのしぜんほうそくです。ですから、わたくしやみなさまのそれぞれのゆめのためにがんばりましょう！！！

I was in campus and following Harry-san, my best tutor I ever had, walking from S2 building to B2 building brought a couple of tube containing RNA, he will teach me how to measure the concentration of RNA that has been isolated. One thing that I wonder is.. why he just brought the tube barely, without the ice box! Usually in Bandung students always bring the bio-stuff like protein or DNA or RNA inside the ice box, it is safe since that stuff may be degrade in room temperature for long time. But he just say, “No.. No problem, because the weather outside is cold”.

Then, exactly! It’s really cold outside!

When the Sakura leaves just completely fell done, the weather become cold day after day.. I click the online forecast and it said 2ﾟC here now. めちゃめちゃさむいです！ Harry-san said that, mecha-mecha samui (not suami) means very-very cold. Even I’m shivering now!

I am very grateful with my mom somehow, just wonder how she could let me bring this “Ginger Tea Powder” to Japan, I just realize it when I opened all my luggage at my first day in Japan. I thought I never put this tea in my bag, but my mom did! I was very regret at first, why my mom put this unbelievable things in my bag??? Then today I found the answer. Although she never know how cold Japan now, but she just save me now. This ginger tea really make me warm.

Yesterday, all YSEP students and others students of Topic on Japan class went to Chigusa Elementary School. We walk to go there, map guide said that it takes only 20 minutes from Ookayama campus but actually it’s far enough to make your stomach hungry again after breakfast.

But the elementary school students are completely surprising!

You know, It feels like in Chibi Maruko Chan Movie where I can see so many children around and they just talking something that I didn’t know what is it mean. I got the first grade class, where the 7 years old kids with reddish cheek shouting, yelling, and laughing each other, until sensei tell them to be quiet. You can imagine that crowded class and sensei shouting like in Crayon Shin Chan Anime, but the students are not so naughty like Shin Chan.

Omoshirokatta ne..

They welcome me by “Apa kabaru itomainati faria-san, konichiwaa..” then, they ask me everything about Indonesia, is there apato in Indonesia?, is there a automobile in Indonesia? Is there any insect in Indonesia? hehe, gemesin bangeeett.. pengen nyubit pipinya satu-satu.. haha!

Setelah hampir tiga bulan menjalani hidup di Jepang, semakin lama aku semakin bersyukur atas nikmat Allah yang menjadikanku seorang Muslimah. Aku, yang sangat belum bisa lancar berbahasa Jepang, sangat bersyukur ketika beberapa kali aku berbelanja atau membeli makanan, tiba-tiba ada orang Jepang yang mengingatkanku kalau-kalau yang aku beli mengandung daging babi, mereka mengkhawatirkan apa yang aku beli, karena mereka tahu melalui jilbab yang kukenakan bahwa aku seorang muslimah.

Kemarin malam aku dan rekan-rekan berjalan-jalan menikmati Illumination di Shinjuku, Tokyo. Setiap akhir tahun, di Jepang selalu ada Illumination, yaitu semacam dekorasi lampu-lampu kecil pada pohon-pohon dan gedung-gedung. Lampu-lampu tersebut didesain sedemikian rupa hingga mempesona orang-orang yang melihatnya.

Setelah puas menikmati menawannya pemandangan malam itu, kami pulang dan melewati para pemuda yang sedang bermabuk-mabukkan. Pada akhir pekan, banyak sekali orang-orang melepas stress dengan party dan beer. Sungguh, selama 20 tahun aku hidup, baru kala itu aku menyaksikan orang-orang mabuk di depan mata kepalaku.

Para pemuda itu mabuk sampai bergelimpangan di tanah, pria dan wanita, tak sadarkan diri terlentang di trotoar dengan sesekali cegukan dan muntah. Sangat menjijikkan! Aku takut dan selalu berjalan beriringan bersama teman-temanku. Dalam hati aku bersyukur menjadi seorang Muslimah, sehingga aku tak mengenal minuman-minuman maut seperti itu.

Tak hanya itu, kami pun melewai daerah lokalisasi perzinaan yang sangat ramai. Beberapa bangunan menawarkan “produk-produk”nya. Aku sungguh takut, ternyata kehidupan malam yang mengerikan seperti itu memang benar-benar ada. Memang benar kata temanku, Tokyo memang 4 kali (mungkin lebih) jauh lebih hedon dibandingkan Jakarta. Kemudahan dan kecanggihan teknologi Jepang tak hanya memajukan kualitas hidup manusianya, namun kebobrokan moral pun semakin meningkat.

Akhirnya jalan kaki kami terhenti di stasiun. Kami masuk kereta dan ada orang yang tiba-tiba bilang “Isuram.. Isuram..” , maksudnya “Islam..Islam..”, Orang Jepang tak bisa mengucapkan huruf L. Orang itu kemudian berguman panjang dengan bahasa Jepang yang tidak aku mengerti. Temanku bilang dia orang gila, ternyata dia bergumam sendiri.

Temanku bilang di Jepang memang banyak orang stress dan akhirnya menjadi gila. Bahkan ada yang bilang bahwa angka bunuh diri Jepang semakin meningkat dari tahun ke tahun. Ketika kita berada di Jepang, hampir pasti kereta api akan datang tepat waktu sesuai jadwal kereta, keterlambatan kereta hampir bisa dipastikan karena ada orang bunuh diri dengan melompat ke rel kereta. Sungguh mengerikan, bahkan ada jalur kereta cepat yang menjadi favorit sebagai tempat bunuh diri. Naudzubillah.

Selama perjalanan pulang di dalam kereta aku merenung, untuk kesekian kalinya aku bersyukur menjadi seorang muslimah. Bahkan Allah menyebut kami, orang-orang Islam ini, sebagai umat terbaik.

Tiba-tiba saja aku teringat ayahku di desa yang menjalani hidup dengan sederhana, tanpa teknologi yang canggih, namun tetap bersahaja menjalankan puasa senin kamis, mengaji, dan mencari nafkah yang halal. Ayah tak tahu banyak tentang internet dan teknologi sejenisnya, tapi ayah selalu mengajarkanku bahwa tujuan hidup manusia itu hanya keridhoan Allah saja. Segala hal yang kita lakukan adalah hal yang disukai Allah saja, jauhi yang terlarang, itu akan cukup membuat hati kita tenang dalam keadaan apapun.

Menjalani hidup di Jepang dan pelajaran dari Ayah semakin membuatku bersyukur (untuk kesekian kalinya) menjadi seorang Muslimah. Semakin bersyukur bahwa bukanlah kekayaan dan kesenangan sesaat yang pantas di kejar, namun keridhoan dan keberkahan Allah saja, itu akan cukup membuat hati kita tenang. Sungguh. Tidak akan ada stress karena seluruh kerja kita memang untuk beribadah dengan sepenuh hati untuk Allah.

Tidak akan ada rasa rugi atas setiap peluh keringat karena kita memang yakin bahwa balasan yang sesungguhnya akan diberikan Allah, bukan oleh selembar uang. Tidak aka nada niat bunuh diri, karena kita yakin bahwa hidup ini adalah amanah besar yang justru harus disyukuri. Sungguh menjadi seorang yang berserah diri pada Allah adalah orang yang sangat beruntung. Tak akan ada harga yang lebih mahal melebihi harga hidayah menjadi seorang Muslim.

Alhamdulillah aku bersyukur menjadi muslimah.

Yesterday I go to Shinjuku with my friends and see some awesome illumination!!

Every end of year, there are Illumination in Japan. It is like you can see all of cute stuff decorated by little twinkling lamp. So many twinkle lamps! Even my electrical-student-friend have a stupid thought to take it as material for lab experiment! 

Haha! Sorry.. these are just my photos.. I have no story anymore, I am sleepy..

Beberapa minggu yang lalu aku dan teman-teman pergi ke Odaiba untuk melihat International Robot Exhibition, ada berbagai macam jenis robot ditampilkan di sana. Dari robot tukang las yang mirip robot di film transformer, robot pembantu rumah tangga yang bisa disuruh-suruh mengambilkan barang di kulkas (tapi lemot banget gerakannya, keburu haus! hehe), robot pecicilan kata mbaTari, yang bisa bergaya dan push-up pake satu tangan, robot cantik yang jadi resepsionis, robot keepon yang bisa buat terapi autis, robot “Paro” anjing laut berbulu untuk terapy lansia yang alergi kucing, dan lain-lain. Hehe, senang pokoknya, meskipun aku tak begitu paham ketika Risvan menerangkan mekanisme sensor robot itu, atau ketika Laras menceritakan robot-robot buat industry.

Yang jelas, ada robot yang sangat menggetarkan hatiku saat itu! Membuatku deg-degan maksudnya. Robot itu bisa menggenggam dan salaman dong! (klik gambar di samping agar terlihat lebih jelas) Serius..Serem banget rasanya seperti salaman dengan sepotong tangan yang bergerak sendiri, pucat banget lagi. Selain salaman, robot itu bisa mengambil kue juga, namun kendalinya masih menggunakan remote control. Kurang begitu canggih menurutku. Hehe

Anyway, yang lebih canggih adalah ketika sebuah robot lengan itu bisa diintegrasikan dengan tubuh manusia sebagai lengan amputasi. Seperti yang dilakukan oleh peneliti di Italia yang menggunakan robotic arm untuk pasien amputasi. Lengan robot itu tidak dikontrol oleh remote kontrol (cape dong kalo harus mencet-mencet remote), namun dekendalikan oleh elektroda yang diimplantasi ke dalam sel saraf lengan pasien. Sistem ini membuat pasien mampu merasakan sensasi melalui lengan robot dan mengendalikan lengan robot tersebut dengan pikirannya.

Namun masih ada kontroversi dari beberapa peneliti tentang kevalidan data hasil riset tersebut. Sensasi melalui lengan robot tersebut hanya berdasarkan respon dari pasien amputasi, bukan berdasarkan uji sensasi menggunakan instrument laboratorium yang menunjukkan bahwa elektroda tersebut mentransmisikan informasi sensorik ke pasien.

Bagaimanapun juga, penelitian yang mulai mengintegrasikan antara robot dan manusia masih sedang dikembangkan saat ini. Pada tahun 2008, disebutkan bahwa seekor monyet yang diamputasi dengan lengan robot mampu mengambil sebuah benda dengan kendali lengan robot langsung dari sel saraf monyet tersebut. Tahun 2009 ini, lengan robot mulai diintegrasikan kepada manusia, meskipun hasilnya masih harus diteliti lebih lanjut.

Di kemudian hari mungkin kita tidak akan terkejut lagi ketika manusia telah benar-benar dapat “bersatu dengan robot”. Mungkin telepon genggam tak lagi diperlukan karena manusia mulai menggunakan telepati untuk berkomunikasi satu sama lain dengan elektroda yang diimplantasi pada sel sarafnya. Atau mungkin saja suatu saat nanti robot manusia seperti transformer pun benar-benar akan ada?Lantas ketika kemudian kemunculan makhluk-makhluk itu mengganggu alam semesta, mucullah Ultraman!!

Hehe, akhirnya setelah puas melihat robot-robot itu (dengan segala imajinasi panjangku tentangnya), kami melanjutkan jalan-jalan lagi ke Kanransha Odaiba, Rainbow Bridge, dan Fuji TV, tempat Ultraman dan kawan-kawannya itu ‘diproduksi’.

Yeahh! It’s Sunday! Time to cook!.. Taraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

This is my cooking experiment today.. I don’t know what is it name,, actually I want to cook a balado-like cuisine for tuna and terong (eggplant) but the result is not spicy and totally different from balado! Haha, so.. I think I will named it TnT (Tuna ‘n Terong).

As you know, I am just ordinary undergraduate student who have a shared-little kitchen with a limited stuff inside refrigerator. I can only cook kinds of simple food. And I just cook what I anything inside my refrigerator! Since my mom always says that “Don’t think too much to start cooking, just open the refrigerator, and you will get a new recipe!”.  So lets start cooking, this recipe is very simple and easy..

The stuff that I need :

Tuna  

Eggplant (Terong)

Onion (Bawang bombai)

Garlic (bawang putih)

Tomato sauce (saus tomat)

Soybean sweet ketchup (kecap manis)

Chili (I just add a little since I and my roommate don’t really like too spicy )

Then follow this 3 simple steps :

1. Slice the eggplant and tuna as you like, fry them.
2. Slice the onion,garlic and chili, fry it with a little oil, then add tomato sauce and soybean ketchup.
3. Add the fried tuna and eggplant, mix it, add the seasoning like salt, a little sugar, pepper. I add  Roy*o, Indonesian powder seasoning (thanks mom, it’s really help), so it must be delicious and very very Indonesia, haha!

Very delicious for lunch, with rice and salad if you want.

Enak banget..!

At the first day I arrived at Japan, just a several hours after we arrived at Narita airport (even we haven’t rest at all), I and all very tired-YSEP students are welcomed by the orientation sessions of Tokyo Tech Umegaoka Dormitory, and the longest session is about “How to separate your garbage!!”, such an important rules because in Yokohama prefecture there is a very strict regulation about it. You must not only separate your plastics and non plastics garbage, but SO MANY! Such as metals, bottles, reuse paper, reuse stuff, sharp garbage, beverage box, reuse box paper, etc. So, it is not just remove the garbage but you must take time to separate it well, because Japan Government is trying to make all the things friendly to environment.

Now I’m gonna tell you about the story of friendly plastics, that maybe someday the government will make a new rule to remove your plastics garbage by just bury it inside the ground! And they’ll gone!!!

Why do they are very strict about plastics is because, I think you’ve already know, that plastics and all product made from petroleum are very hard to decomposed by earth. The fuel-based plastic lock the carbon inside, and if it incinerated it’ll make CO2 pollution on atmosphere. Then Scientists and Engineers make a new kind of plastics called Biodegradable Plastics. The friendly environment plastics that degraded well by soil microbes.

I heard this from one of topic of Tokyo Tech & Tsinghua University Joint Symposium on New Frontiers in Biological System : From Molecule to Organism and Environment. 16 breakthrough researches presented by scientists, engineers, and the experts from research and development division of some biological, chemical, and pharmaceutical industry. I and Chandra as YSEP student here are very grateful attended this symposium, most of audience are professor, PhD and master students, only both of us are undergraduate student. And this is just one of story of 16 presented stories.

The biodegradable plastics can made from starch of vegetables such as corn, potatoes, rice, etc. Usually the biodegradable plastics composed from PHAs (polyhidroxyalkanoates) that produced by a wide variety of bacteria as intracellular carbon and energy storage materials from renewable carbon resources. As these bacterial PHAs are biodegradable thermoplastics, they have drawn increase attention as possible alternatives for petroleum-based polymers. But PHAs result by bacteria have a poor physical properties so that it can’t widely used for wide range application. Then Mr Toshiaki Fukui from Bioengineering of Tokyo Tech in this symposium explained his research about how to get a better physical properties plastics materials, and how to process it with low cost bioprocess. He used Ralstonia eutropha as a bio machine for PHA producing, the result is not s good, a brittle-poor biodegradable PHA. Then he did some modification in that metabolic biomachines by introducing the Aeromonas caviae genes inside them. The result is that bacteria highly yield 80% of P(3HB-co-3HHx)!! This material was better so much than PHA, it tougher and still well biodegradable. So that can be applied in plastics industry to produce a household product or other plastics stuff that friendly to environment.

But if that going true in the future, I think the price of potato chips will be more expensive then. Because the potatoes product are not only for potato chips and other meals, but also plastics. Of course it much more delicious to eat potato chips rather than “plastics chips” anyway!

But don’t worry, just wait and see.. how can the scientist and engineer solve that challenge.. maybe we include on that effort, Yoshh!!

I love flowers.. everywhere and every time Maybe it’s because my mom like it either. Actually in my childhood I didn’t like it, I always destroy my moms garden, cut down her flowers and make them become a salad-like stuff with my friends, because my mom’s flowers have so many different colors and these just make me interested to make a cooking playing with my friends. Then my mom just angry with me..But now, I love flowers anyway. And it is always remind me to my nice mom that is far away from me now. I have been staying in Japan since 2 month ago and we just separated about more than 6000 Km. I missing her so much.

The flowers remind me when I and my family go to spend holyday together, then my dad bought a flower for my mom. Arrived at home, we gardening together, my mother planting the flower and my dad keeping his fish in the pond. But I and my brother was just very lazy to shower garden everyday. However now, I love flowers anyway.. Maybe because I missing my mom, dad, and my naughty little brother. Missing the moment when we keeping our small and simple garden.

In Indonesia we lived in a very small town, (sometimes I think maybe just a big village, not a town) Ngawi, even there is no much information about it in google earth. My mom and dad are truly villager, there is wrong with them when they just didn’t know much about internet, so that they are very seldom to call me online. They didn’t know how t use it. So I am very very very glad when my mom and dad call me in the morning by phone, I know they are missing me too.

Near Ookayama Campus, I found this nice flower, but it is cabbage actually. Flower is what my mom love so much and cabbage is my dad’s favorites vegetables. So having this beautiful cabbage is seems like having my mom and my dad in my room now.

But this flower is unique actually,

See..? From these three different color cabbage in left image, they  can combined and grow together become a beautiful flower. Every time I look at it, this flower just make me relax every I tired doing my report.

Special for my mom and dad.. I promise I will study hard and do my best here..  And I will surely be your only one nice daughter.

And, thank you my nice cabbage.

I love this word anyway, even I didn’t know what is it mean.. hehehe.. I just hear it in the train everyday when I go to the campus. Yeah, maybe this is the reason why we are stay in Umegaoka Dormitory which is 40 minutes (it takes 60 minutes include walking from home to station) far away from main campus in Ookayama, that long minutes just make me enjoy to be a train passenger. Hanno Sinko is that one.

Hanno Sinko is what the train driver say before he run the train. He say it after he does an elegant hand moving like pointing some stuff inside machinist board (it is looks like a pointing moving of Sailormoon before she agaist devil), then he says Yoshh!! I don’t know why I like that’s action anyway. So several days past I just spent my time in train to watch how he run the machine and how the train going on railway. Then, rather than just sit inside the car train, I prefer go to the first car train and watching the machinist and the railway. Hehe. That’s kind of unnecessary thing, but I enjoy it, I never see the elegant train employer like them.
